City of Henderson Parks and Recreation Department’s Holiday Happenings
HENDERSON, Nev.— The City of Henderson Parks and Recreation Department is hosting a wide variety of family-friendly events and activities this holiday season. Events are held at recreation centers and pools located throughout the city. To register, visit cityofhenderson.com or stop by any City of Henderson recreation center. Registration is recommended as space for some activities may be limited.
Puppy Pictures With Santa
Santa Claus will be in Henderson to pose for holiday pictures with your pooch. Packages are $10 and up. You can also bring your own camera and take a picture for free. Location: Black Mountain Recreation Center, 599 Greenway Rd. All ages. 10:00 a.m.-noon, Saturday, Dec. 5, activity 154072-00; $10.
Pictures With Santa
Santa is making a special appearance at Black Mountain Recreation Center to pose for pictures with your child. Photo packages are $8 and up, or you may bring your own camera and take a picture for free. Location: Black Mountain Recreation Center. All ages. 10:00 a.m.-noon, Saturday, Dec. 5, 12 & 19, activity 154060-00; $10.
Shopping Days
Kids enjoy a fun-filled day of supervised games and arts and crafts, and parents get to finish their last-minute holiday shopping. Each Shopping Days event features a unique theme and activities. Lunch is included. Register at least one week in advance. Location: Valley View Recreation Center, 500 Harris St. Ages 5-12.

Letters To Santa
The Parks and Recreation Department is helping Santa and his elves with their mail this year. Drop your letter in our specially-marked box and receive a letter back from Santa within a week. Please include a self-addressed, stamped envelope. Location: Valley View Recreation Center. Ages 1-7. Dec. 7-18, activity 154008-48; $2 per letter.
Santa’s Workshop
Drop the kids off with us so you can finish your holiday shopping. Kids will make a take-home present and design their own wrapping paper. The event also features games, a special treat, and some favorite holiday cartoons. Register by Dec. 6. Location: Whitney Ranch Recreation Center, 1575 Galleria Dr. Ages 6-12. noon-4:00 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 12; activity 294011-36; $15.
Candy Cane Hunt
Santa may have dropped his candy canes while swimming in the pools. Join us and search for the missing canes – the swimmer who finds the most wins a prize. Candy canes will be at the bottom of the pool, so kids must know how to swim. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Two dates and locations to choose from. All ages.

Mommy & Me Holiday Party
It’s a semi-formal holiday party and fashion show for moms and daughters. Wear your favorite party dress for an afternoon of games, party favors and refreshments. The event concludes with a fashion show featuring you! Location: Silver Springs Recreation Center, 1951 Silver Springs Pkwy. Ages 3-8, with parent. 1:00-3:00 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 12, activity 154011-12; $25 per pair.
Holiday Lights Tour
Join us for a tour of Henderson’s colorful holiday lights and enjoy a cup of hot chocolate. We’ll tour all of the homes participating in the Henderson Commemorative Beautification’s Holiday Decorating Contest. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Arrive by 6:15 p.m. as buses leave at 6:30 p.m. Register by Dec. 12. Location: Whitney Ranch Recreation Center. All ages. 6:30-9:00 p.m., Friday, Dec. 18, activity 154004-36; $5.
Santa’s Phone Line
Enjoy a personal 10-minute phone call from Santa or one of his elves! Santa will call your child at a prearranged time to chat about their holiday wish list and the season. Please make reference to your child’s wish list. Times are assigned in order of receipt of registration. Two dates to choose from.

Great Elf Escape
