City of Henderson Hosting Festive Halloween Events for Kids
HENDERSON, Nev. – The City of Henderson Parks and Recreation Department is hosting a variety of festive and spooky Halloween events for little ghosts and goblins of all ages at its recreation centers and facilities. For programs with activity numbers, registration is required. Register online at cityofhenderson.com or in person at any City of Henderson recreation center.
The Owl Who Was Afraid of the Dark
Bring your child to the Henderson Bird Viewing Preserve to hear a story about an owl who is scared of the dark. Each child will color a page related to the story. Parents are welcome to take children on an educational walk around our ponds after story time. Location: Henderson Bird Viewing Preserve 2400 B. Moser Dr.

Munchable Monster House
Kids use chocolate frosting, graham crackers and colorful candy to create sweet (and totally edible) haunted houses. It’s a munchable monster treat that’s fun to make. All supplies provided. Register by Oct. 14. Location: Silver Springs Recreation Center, 1951 Silver Springs Pkwy.

Pumpkin Picassos
This is a safe alternative to carving pumpkins. Recreation center staff children as they create their own pumpkin masterpieces just in time for Halloween. Event includes themed games. Bring an old shirt and a pumpkin. Register by Oct. 10. Location: Whitney Ranch Recreation Center, 1575 Galleria Dr.

Tots Trick or Treat Trail
Dress your little ones in their Halloween costumes and let them trick or treat in the safety of our recreation centers. Admission is free, but a donation of two canned food items to benefit the Henderson Salvation Army would be appreciated. Pumpkin Picking & Painting
Pick a pumpkin from our mini pumpkin patch and use paint, sparkles and other festive supplies to create a pumpkin masterpiece that’s sure to impress. Dress in play clothes and bring an old shirt to use as a smock. This could get messy! Register by Oct. 21. Location: Silver Springs Recreation Center

Trunk or Treat
Put on your costume and follow the trick or treat trail in our parking lot. We’ll pass out a fun mix of tricks and treats from the trunks of our spookily decorated cars. Event includes entertainment and a costume contest. Barbecued ribs, chicken and hamburgers will be available for purchase. Register by Oct. 28 or pay at the door. Location: Black Mountain Recreation Center, 599 Greenway Rd.

Tricks & Treats Plant Projects For Kids
A Master Gardener introduces a few festive and fun plant projects for kids to do now and through the cold winter months.
