City of Henderson’s Brady Dehn Earns National Recognition

HENDERSON, Nev. – Brady Dehn, Aquatics manager for the City of Henderson Parks and Recreation Department, has been awarded the 2009 Meritorious Service Award – Young Professional by the American Park & Recreation Society (APRS), a branch of the National Recreation and Park Association (NPRA).

The national award recognizes outstanding service in the field of parks and recreation at the state, regional and national levels; professional field leadership; and local community leadership.

As Henderson’s Aquatics manager, Dehn manages a team of 11 full-time staff members, as many as 350 part-time staff members in the summer season, and nine pools and aquatic facilities. He holds a wide variety of professional certifications, including Certified Parks and Recreation Professional (CPRP), Aquatic Facility Operator (AFO), and as an instructor/trainer in water safety, lifeguarding, CPR, and first aid.

Dehn has also served as a City of Henderson staff liaison to the Blue Ribbon Commission on Educational Excellence and Youth Opportunity, as chair of the American Red Cross Health and Safety Committee, member at large of the Nevada Recreation and Parks Society (NRPS), and chair of the NRPS Aquatic Committee.

“Brady is hardworking, ethical, intelligent, and committed to continually improving himself and serving as a mentor to others,” said Dirk Richwine, Recreation superintendent with the City of Henderson Parks and Recreation Department. “He demonstrates excellence in everything he does.”

Prior to joining the City of Henderson in 2002, Dehn served as pool manager at the former Aladdin Hotel and Casino, where he oversaw the pool’s grand opening.

The American Park and Recreation Society (APRS) is the largest professional branch of the National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA). With more than 8,500 members, APRS is comprised of professionals who work in the local delivery of park, recreation and leisure services for government, private agencies and commercial organizations.
