Auto Maintenance Workshop Puts The Basics Within Reach

HENDERSON, Nev. – Drivers who know how to get behind the wheel but not under the hood can learn about basic auto maintenance in a workshop hosted by the City of Henderson Parks and Recreation Department. Enrollment is $9 per workshop, ages 18 and up. Workshops are offered 7:00-8:15 p.m. on Monday, March 19 (activity 191152-36), 7:00-8:15 p.m. on Monday, April 9 (activity 191152-37) at Whitney Ranch Recreation Center, 1575 Galleria Dr., and 7:00-8:15 p.m. on Tuesday, April 3 (activity 191152-48) at Valley View Recreation Center, 500 Harris St. Register online at cityofhenderson.com/parks or at any City of Henderson recreation center.

The instructor will discuss proper preventative care, including why it is important to change the car’s oil, brake, power steering, and radiator fluids. Participants will be taught how to perform basic tasks, including checking air pressure and tire treads and putting on a spare tire. Keeping vehicle maintenance up to date will help keep a car running smoothly and deliver better gas mileage.

“This workshop is for drivers who don’t know much about auto maintenance, but see the value in learning the basics,” said Lenore Budyach, Recreation Services supervisor, City of Henderson Parks and Recreation Department. “A basic understanding will also enable car owners to better communicate with their mechanics in the event professional auto maintenance is needed.”

For additional information, call Whitney Ranch Recreation Center at 267-5850 or Valley View Recreation Center at 267-4060.
