Registration Opens For 2011 Henderson Senior Games
HENDERSON, Nev. – The spirit of friendly competition will be the focus of the 2011 Henderson Senior Games, a sporting and social event for athletes ages 50+. Athletes may register Feb. 1 through March 18. The annual program is sponsored by the City of Henderson Parks and Recreation Department.
Registration is $15 per person (with exception to volleyball), which includes an event T-shirt, program guide and results booklet. There is also a participation cost for each event entered, with most events $3-$5 each. Registration packets are available online at cityofhenderson.com and at the Arroyo Grande Sports Complex, 298 Arroyo Grande Blvd. Walk-ons will be accepted at some events pending space availability.
The competition takes place April 1-17 at a variety of locations in Henderson. First, second and third place coins or medallions will be presented at the close of each event. Events include 18-hole golf, table tennis, tennis, basketball, track and field, bowling, fitness, power lifting, and volleyball.
“This is one of our most highly anticipated athletic programs of the year,” said Michele Howard, Recreation program coordinator, City of Henderson Parks and Recreation Department. “The diversity of the sporting events and the high caliber of participating athletes are what make the program so unique and so enduring.”
