Family Pride Bike Ride Takes Off Oct. 24
HENDERSON, Nev. – Families are invited to join the City of Henderson Parks and Recreation Department and The Bike Shop for the inaugural Family Pride Ride, starting at 5:00 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 24. The ride begins at Silver Springs Recreation Center, 1951 Silver Springs Pkwy., runs along the paved bike path at Pittman Wash, and ends at The Bike Shop, located at 2570 Wigwam Pkwy., just north of I-215.
Participation is $20 per family, with all ages welcome. Register at any City of Henderson recreation center or online at cityofhenderson.com (activity code 154111-53). To ensure safety, waivers (available at Silver Springs Recreation Center prior to the ride) and helmets are required.
“More than 38.1 million Americans ages 7 and up ride a bike, and that number continues to increase each year,” said Corey Clark, Recreation Services manager, City of Henderson Parks and Recreation Department. “Whether you ride for fitness or for fun, the Family Pride Ride provides an excellent opportunity to spend time together as a family and feel a sense of accomplishment. It’s too much fun to feel like exercise.”
The event is not a race, but rather a recreational experience. Participating families will cross the finish line at The Bike Shop, where they will receive medals and enjoy a barbecue. Additional activities include coloring, bike decorating, and family flag contests for creative riders. Entry forms are available at the finish line.
