City of Henderson Parks and Recreation Department Accepting Entries For Its Annual Trails Photo Contest
HENDERSON, Nev. –The City of Henderson Parks and Recreation Department is accepting entries for its annual trails photo contest through Aug. 20. The contest promotes the beauty and accessibility of the City’s trail system through the use of photographs. The contest is open to participants of all ages. Entrants 17 and under must have a parent or guardian’s signature on their entry form. Printable entry forms and a complete list of rules and entry requirements are available at cityofhenderson.com (type NTD 11 Contest in the search box). Participation is free.
The City of Henderson Trails Photo Contest features many different categories and themes. They include views from the trail with people (color), views from the trail without people (color), positive trail use (color), wildlife (color), general trail photos (color), River Mountains Loop Trail (color), River Mountains Loop Trail (black and white), and Southern Nevada trails (color).
“Our annual photo contest consistently attracts entrants of all ages and skill levels,” said Jennifer Magby, Outdoor Recreation coordinator, City of Henderson Parks and Recreation Department. “While each person has their own style and technique, one thing they all have in common is an interest in our citywide trail system. We’re especially pleased that one of the more popular trails—the 35-mile River Mountains Loop Trail— will be completed later this year. It should make for some outstanding photos.”
Entries are evaluated on creativity, composition and content, and the inclusion of an identifiable Henderson trail, with exception to the Southern Nevada trails category. Entries depicting the River Mountains Loop Trail and Historic Railroad Trail may show any portion of these trails, including segments outside of Henderson.
Winning photographs will be displayed during the National Trails Day Celebration, sponsored by the City of Henderson Parks and Recreation Department. The event takes place on Oct. 1 at the Promenade at the Pavilion, 200 S. Green Valley Pkwy.
One winning entry will also be named Best of Show, and a People’s Choice Award will be selected by the public.
