National Trails Day Celebration 2009

Looking for a trail or a trail activity? Our National Trails Day celebration features informational exhibits and presenters, activities for all ages, an outdoor gear swap meet, and the City of Henderson Trails Photo Contest display and awards presentation. Meet fellow trail users and learn about the many trail activities and opportunities in Henderson and neighboring communities.

Schedule of Events
8:00 a.m. River Mountains Loop Trail with Green Valley Cyclists - 30 miles
All ages welcome. Participants under the age of 16 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Registration is required the day of the event. All participants must be able to ride 30 miles. This round trip ride will depart from the National Trails Day event and make its way to the River Mountains Loop Trail. This is an on-street ride for experienced riders. Riders must provide their own water and bicycle equipment. Helmets are required.
 
9:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. National Trails Day Exhibitors
Visit the many booths and learn about trail and outdoor recreation opportunities throughout the Vegas Valley.
 
  Outdoor Gear Swap Meet
Looking for outdoor gear at a great price? Visit the Outdoor Gear Swap Meet and find a great deal.
 
  City of Henderson Trails Photo Contest Display
The top three photos selected in each category will be on display. Stop by and get inspired to get out and explore Henderson trails.
 
  Stage Presentations
Throughout the event, experts on a variety of trail and outdoor related topics will take the stage and share their information.
 
9:00 a.m.-noon People’s Choice Award Voting
Come cast your vote for the People’s Choice winning photo in the City of Henderson Trails Photo Contest. Ballots available at the photo contest display. The winner will be announced at 12:30 p.m.
 
9:30-11:00 a.m. Trails Tour East & West
Take a guided bus tour of trails on the east or west side of Henderson. The choice is yours. Additional tours will be offered at 11:30 a.m. Register at the event by visiting the Trail Tour booth.
 
10:00 a.m. Family Bike Ride - 5 miles
All ages welcome. Participants under the age of 16 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Registration is required day of the event. A leader from Green Valley Cyclists will take the group on a family friendly ride through the Green Valley area of Henderson. Riders must provided their own water and bicycle equipment. Helmets are required.
 
10:00-11:00 a.m. REI GPS 101 Class

11:00 a.m. Neon To Nature Ceremony
Join us at the stage at 11:00 a.m. for the official presentation, ribbon cutting ceremony and the logo unveiling for the Neon to Nature Regional Open Space and Trails System.
 
  Neon to Nature Mile Walk
Immediately following the ceremony, the first Neon to Nature Mile Walk will be held on the Amargosa Trail. All ages are welcome to participate.
 
11:30 a.m.-1:00 p.m. Trails Tour East and West
Take a guided bus tour of trails on the east or west side of Henderson. The choice is yours. Register at the event by visiting the Trail Tour booth.
 
Noon Family Bike Ride - 5 miles
All ages welcome. Participants under the age of 16 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Registration is required day of the event. 12:30 p.m. Henderson Trails Photo Contest Awards Presentation
Come to the stage and congratulate the winning photographers. Awards will be presented for the top three photos in each category, the People’s Choice Award, and Best of Show.
