Henderson, Nev. – A 39-year-old woman was struck and killed by a vehicle Saturday evening while she was attempting to cross Lake Mead Parkway.
The woman was struck about 9:15 p.m. Saturday by a westbound Ford Expedition driven by Martel Cage, 27, as she was attempting to cross Lake Mead Parkway at Taylor Street. The woman was crossing at an intersection that had crosswalk markings; however, witnesses told investigators that the woman was crossing against the crosswalk signals.
The woman was taken to Sunrise Hospital Trauma where she died from her injuries about 11:30 p.m. Saturday. The driver of the Ford Expedition was not injured.
Cage voluntarily submitted to blood testing to determine if drugs or alcohol were a factor in the crash. A preliminary investigation also indicates that speed does not appear to be a factor in the crash. The crash remains under investigation.
The Clark County Coroner’s Office will release the victim’s name after she has been positively identified and her family has been notified.
