Nighttime Birding Experience Offered At the Henderson Bird Viewing Preserve

Henderson, Nev. – The Henderson Bird Viewing Preserve, 350 E. Galleria Dr., is hosting Birding Under the Stars, a nighttime birding experience, from 7:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Saturday, May 17. Participation is $14 per person (ages 8 and up) and may be made at cityofhenderson.com using activity code 663020-00 or in person at any City of Henderson recreation center. Registration is required. Participants should arrive 15 minutes early to check in. All children must be accompanied by an adult.
The event features a staff-guided tour around the 100-acre preserve to observe nocturnal birds and other wildlife. Some of the more active nocturnal birds include owls and nighthawks, which hunt and forage at night. A telescope will also be set up outside the visitor’s center for star gazing.
The Henderson Bird Viewing Preserve is home to thousands of migratory waterfowl and numerous resident desert birds. There are nine ponds available for birding, surrounded by paved and soft surface paths.
