Henderson, Nev. – A 51-year-old Henderson man was arrested Wednesday in connection with an insurance scheme potentially costing consumers and an insurance company $859,000 in unissued vehicle extended warranties sold through car dealerships across the country, some located in Nevada.
Henderson Police detectives, in a joint investigation with the Nevada Division of Insurance, apprehended Robert William Roback, president of DriverzEdge. Roback is alleged to have failed to remit premium payments collected by DriverzEdge, from consumers who believed they were purchasing extended warranties, to the insurer offering the policies.
Roback was apprehended at his place of business, located at Stephanie St. and Warm Springs Rd., and charged with three counts of felony theft.
Extended warranty applications purchased from DriverzEdge from August to October, 2013 were not forwarded to Assurant Service Protection, leaving consumers without warranty coverage. Assurant Service Protection has set up a toll-free number to assist consumers in determining whether the policy they purchased has been issued, and for addressing claim needs related to this incident. Consumers who believe they purchased an extended warranty through DriverzEdge can call Assurant at (866) 537-5064 to make a claim or check on the status of their policy.
