Henderson, Nev. – The City of Henderson is calling all green thumbs to help plant trees along the Pittman Wash Trail for Make a Difference Day. The event takes place Saturday, October 25 from 10 a.m. to noon at the trail entrance at Silver Springs Recreation Center, 1951 Silver Springs Pkwy. The free event is open to people of all ages and abilities.
Make a Difference Day is the largest national day of community service, uniting volunteers around the world on projects that improve their communities. Thousands of projects are planned each year involving corporations, communities, nonprofit organizations, entire states and individuals. Henderson’s community tree planting project will help beautify and preserve the 4.5-mile Pittman Wash Trail.
Volunteers will help plant trees to provide shade along the trail. Participants are encouraged to wear shoes that can get muddy and bring a shovel and gloves. Arborists and master gardeners will be on hand to answer landscape and gardening questions. A light lunch will be served to volunteers.
