Henderson, Nev. – The City of Henderson is encouraging residents to explore Henderson trails during the months of April and May, by bike or by foot, for a chance to win a Beach Cruiser and other bonus prizes. There is no cost to participate.

Kicking off April 1, participants have until May 31 to take a “selfie” in front of any trail signage in Henderson, including trailheads, kiosks and interpretive signs. Photos sent to BikeHenderson@cityofhenderson.com will be eligible for a chance to win prizes. The email must include the participant’s name and telephone number.

“Bike It or Hike It is a fun way for the first-time biker or hiker to explore our award-winning trail system,” said Henderson Mayor Andy Hafen. “To help make it easy to participate, on our website we’ve recommended three trails that are perfect for a family-friendly outing.”

Exploring more than one trail is encouraged and more than one entry can be submitted, however, each entry must contain a unique image. Participants can submit their photos from April 1 until 11:59 p.m. on May 31. Winners will be chosen at random. Grand prize is a Beach Cruiser valued up to $300. Bonus prizes include five $50 sporting goods store gift cards and ten $25 City of Henderson FunCards.

Bike It or Hike It is one of many bicycling initiatives planned in 2014 that supports Henderson’s journey to become Southern Nevada’s first Bicycle Friendly Community by the League of American Cyclists. Henderson is improving bicycling opportunities citywide, including increasing recreational activities, services and events for bicyclists, as well as making roadways safer.
