Henderson, Nev. – Four thousand dogs and their human friends are expected converge on Cornerstone Park, 1600 Wigwam Pkwy, for the City of Henderson’s 11th annual Bark In the Park. The free event takes place 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, March 8. Leashed dogs are welcome and must be under the control of a handler at least 10 years of age.
The five-hour event features a variety of contests, Atomic Dogs flyball demonstrations, more than 40 pet-oriented vendor booths and a Frisbee tournament. Members of the Henderson Police Department K-9 Unit will be on hand to host demonstrations and speak with participants.
“Last year’s event, which was hosted at the new Cornerstone Park for the first time, drew more than 3,000 residents and their pets for a few hours of fun,” said Mayor Andy Hafen. “This year’s event builds upon that success with additional activities and more opportunities to learn about the Henderson Police Department’s K-9 Unit and the important work they do in keeping our community safe.”
Residents interested in adopting a dog are encouraged to attend. Several rescue groups will be on hand with dogs in need of forever homes. More than 500 dogs have been adopted at Bark In the Park over the last ten years.
