Henderson, Nev. –
Those brave enough to bear the freezing water of the Henderson Multigenerational Activity Pool, 250 S. Green Valley Pkwy., are invited to take part in the city of Henderson’s second annual Polar Bear Plunge. The event takes place 1:00-4:00 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 9, 2013. Participants will ride down the slides of the outdoor activity pool and plunge into the cold water below.
The event also includes warm winter treats, activities and a bounce house. Admission is $5 per person, including those wishing to spectate. Swimmers will take the plunge by age: 4-12 years, 13-19 years, and ages 20 and up. Register at http://www.cityofhenderson.com/parks/
(activity code 136502-00) or at any city of Henderson recreation center.
“We had 70 brave people take part in last year’s inaugural event and are expecting a strong turnout again in 2013,” said Mayor Andy Hafen. “The water is very chilly in February, so participants can expect an exhilarating slide and a bracing plunge into the pool. It will be a memorable experience.” The Polar Bear Plunge is not recommended for those with high blood pressure or heart conditions.
