Spring Clinic Offers Jr. Lifeguard Experience

Henderson, Nev. Teens and preteens with an interest in lifeguarding can learn valuable skills in the city of Henderson’s Jr. Lifeguard spring break clinic. The program is offered 8:00-11:00 a.m., Monday through Thursday, March 25-28, at Heritage Park Aquatic Complex, 310 S. Racetrack Rd. It is open to participants ages 11-15 and is $50 per person. Register at (activity code 136004-00) or at any City of Henderson recreation center or indoor pool.

Jr. Lifeguard participants will spend time with members of the city’s Aquatics team and learn what it takes to be a lifeguard. Participants will also learn about the importance of emergency action plans, water safety, customer service, shadow guarding, and how to assist with swim lessons. The program also serves as a preview of the city’s Jr. Lifeguard summer program, which pairs up participants with lifeguards in a hands-on setting. Many participants in the summer Jr. Lifeguard program go on to earn their lifeguard certifications at age 15.
