Henderson, Nev. – Professional BMX rider and television personality Ricardo Laguna will make a special appearance at the city of Henderson’s inaugural Bicycle Swap & Rally, to be held 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, April 6, at Cornerstone Park, 1600 Wigwam Parkway. Admission is free.
Laguna will make an appearance at 12:30 p.m. to meet and greet participants and to discuss bicycling safety and the importance of wearing a helmet. He will also share his story about becoming a professional BMX rider and provide insight into his ride “tricks.”
On the BMX circuit since 2003, Laguna has won many international BMX events around the world, most recently capturing first place in Costa Rica’s King of Dirt and second place in the Bullhead City Slam n Jam King of Dirt. He is also the star of the MTV reality show “The Ricardo Laguna Project,” which chronicles his journey as a Latin American BMXer living in Las Vegas.
“Ricardo Laguna is a highly visible BMX rider who gives back to the community by sharing his message about bicycling safety,” said Jacob Snow, Henderson City Manager. “When children and teens see a professional rider of Ricardo’s caliber leading by example, it is a message that resonates.”
The Bicycle Swap & Rally invites people to trade or sell gently used bikes and parts of all kind, including road, BMX, mountain, time trial, triathlon, and children’s bikes. A vendor marketplace will feature new bicycles, parts and gear, including shoes, clothing and helmets. The event also includes bicycle repairs, bicycle recycling, demonstrations and a bicycle safety course. Henderson’s complimentary Bike Valet will be available for those wishing to park their bikes during the event.
