(Henderson, NV) – For a second consecutive year, the City of Henderson will host its Fourth of July Celebration at Mission Hills Park, 551 E. Mission Dr. from 6 p.m.-9 p.m. The event will feature live entertainment, children’s and family activities, and an 18-minute fireworks show by Lantis Fireworks and Lasers, which begins at 9 p.m. Admission is complimentary. (Some activities may require paid admission.)
New to the festivities this year will be 3-on-3 women’s and 6-on-6 co-rec volleyball tournaments played on grass, and family games such as three-legged races and water bucket brigade. The 3-on-3 basketball tournament will return to the courts at Mission Hills Park. Signup for these tournaments begins at 5:30 p.m.
Also returning to the Fourth of July Celebration is country music group the Randy Anderson Band and the Henderson Symphony Orchestra, which will perform before and during the fireworks display. The Battle of the Bands contest, where teen bands compete to win a $1,000 gift certificate from Guitar Center and the opportunity to record in studio, will stage a comeback for a second year.
Foothill and Basic high schools will operate a variety of food and drink concessions. Proceeds benefit each school’s student clubs and groups.
Activities for children include face-painting, sand art, bounce houses, and cooling off in the park’s splash pad.
A complimentary shuttle will provide round-trip service from the CSN parking lot at 700 College Dr. to the Fourth of July Celebration during the event, starting at 5:30 p.m.
