Henderson Pavilion "Hook"s Blues Traveler for May 17 Concert
Grammy Award-winning, “Run-Around” jam band performs greatest hits & new music from latest album for 25th anniversary

April 22, 2013

Blues Traveler, the soulful rock band that defined the music of the mid ‘90s, tours the U.S. in support of their 11th studio album, Suzie Cracks The Whip, performing at the Henderson Pavilion, 200 S. Green Valley Parkway, for the first time, Friday, May 17 at 8 p.m. Tickets are $15.

The group, who also celebrates their successful 25-year career this year, took over the radio airwaves nearly two decades ago with their groundbreaking hit, “Run-Around,” from their 1994 record, Four. Infused by the band’s innovative sound, harmonica-laced licks and John Popper’s captivating vocals, the breakthrough song scored the band their first Grammy Award, topped music charts for weeks and became the longest-charting single in Billboard history.

In addition to one of the greatest songs of the ‘90s, Blues Traveler, who started as a humble jam band from New Jersey, relished in their newfound spotlight, following up the success of “Run-Around” with “Hook,” another Top 40 smash from Four. Pioneering the music movement of the decade, the group became a mainstream rock/pop icon, entertaining millions of adoring fans worldwide, garnering six certified gold and platinum albums and breaking records.

Their latest album, Suzie Cracks The Whip, is a musical resurgence for Blues Traveler. With special guests like Spin Doctor’s Chris Barron and American Idol finalist Crystal Bowersox, who both wrote songs and performed on the album, the band’s musical repertoire is on a whole new level.

Fans can expect powerhouse performances during the band’s 25th anniversary tour. With Popper at the helm, Blues Traveler is sure to entertain fans with an energetic live show, featuring their collection of greatest hits and debut of their new music, including the first single, “You Don’t Have To Love Me.”
