Henderson, Nev. – Henderson placed in the Top 10 Safest Cities in America based on rankings released by Law Street Media, a web site covering law and policy. Law Street Media’s rankings are based on 2012 FBI violent crime data collected from police department across the country.
Henderson placed sixth in the Top 10 safest cities. Law Street noted the city’s “very low” murder rate of 0.15 per 100,000 people. Irvine, CA, was ranked first followed by Gilbert, AZ, Plano, TX, Fremont, CA, and Scottsdale, AZ, making the Top 5.
“Delivering programs and services that foster a safe community is essential to achieving our vision to be America’s premier community,” Mayor Andy Hafen said. “Our low crime rate demonstrates that our actions and the police department’s hard work are producing tangible results.”
Henderson has previously been recognized as one of America’s Best Places to Live by Money magazine in 2012, 2008 and 2006 and was named the Second Safest City in America by Forbes.
“I am proud that Henderson has again been recognized as a safe city,” Police Chief Patrick Moers said. “This recognition is possible because of the dedicated employees of the police department, support from our citizens and commitment from our city leaders.”
