The Linehan/Yant/Temme family is buzzing to support the St. Baldrick’s Foundation, a charity dedicated to raising money for lifesaving childhood cancer research, by shaving their heads at this year’s Southern Nevada Sons of Erin St. Patrick’s Day Parade & Festival.
WHAT: St. Baldrick’s Head-Shaving Event
WHEN: Saturday, March 16, 5 p.m.-6 p.m.
WHERE: Henderson Events Plaza, 200 S. Water Street, Water Street District
WHY: Led by Pat Linehan, a member of the Southern Nevada Sons of Erin organization and 12-year veteran of the St. Patrick’s Day event, the four-generation team, comprised of Chris Linehan, 36 years old and son to Pat; Casey Yant, the 5-year-old grandson of Pat; and Richard Temme, Pat’s 86-year-old father-in-law, is competing in the annual shave-off.
“We chose to support St. Baldrick’s because many of our family members have been afflicted with cancer,” said Pat, 62 years old. “We’re thrilled to be involved with this great cause. We hope our contributions will help find a cure for childhood cancer.”
Now in its third year, the head-shaving event, sponsored by the Southern Nevada Sons of Erin, has raised $20,000 for the local chapter of St. Baldrick’s. Along with his fellow Irishmen and women, as well as his family members, Pat is looking to top this number at this year’s St. Patrick’s Day festivities.
The Linehan/Yant/Temme head-shaving squad is looking for donations. In addition, the Southern Nevada Sons of Erin club is looking for people to give back, either by shaving their heads or sponsoring a shavee.
