Henderson, Nev. – The Center for Digital Government (CDG), a national research and advisory institute on information technology policies and best practices in state and local government, announced its 2013 Digital Cities Survey winners, with the City of Henderson tying Seattle for fourth place in the category of populations of 250,000 or more. Awards will be presented on November 15 at the National League of Cities annual conference in Seattle. In 2012, Henderson ranked seventh in its population category.
Winners were selected by a panel of CDG senior fellows and senior executives. Judging criteria includes progress on information and communication technology practices made over the past year, return on investment and a city’s proven ability to innovate and leverage creative practices. Priority was given to initiatives that promote transparency and open data, mobility, finance management, staffing, connectivity, cyber security, shared services, virtualization techniques and disaster recovery.
“This honor truly showcases the City of Henderson’s ongoing collaborative efforts to provide outstanding service to our residents, balancing the increased demand for services with innovative solutions even as budgets have been scaled back,” said Mayor Andy Hafen. “I’m especially pleased at the progress we have made in regional collaboration initiatives, deployment of mobile solutions and citizen engagement through our online services initiative.”
