Throughout the 12-week challenge, individuals may optionally provide weight loss updates to stay on track and to win incentive prizes. During the final week of the challenge from 6 a.m. to 8 a.m. or 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Monday-Friday, March 31-April 4, participants are invited back to the recreation centers for a final weigh in to see how much weight they have lost.
Prizes will be awarded to the most “lightened up” participants in each age and gender bracket. A celebration for all participants will be held on April 10 at Heritage Park Senior Facility, 300 S. Racetrack Rd.
“In January of each year, most people find themselves making New Year’s resolutions to start exercising or to lose weight. But some people’s best intentions get derailed because they don’t have the support they need to turn exercise into an important part of their daily routines,” said Mayor Andy Hafen. “The Lighten Up Henderson challenge is designed to encourage and support individuals in their efforts to enjoy a healthier lifestyle.”
