Henderson, Nev. – A 59-year-old man walking in the middle lane of Boulder Highway died early Wednesday after being struck by a car.

The man was struck about 1:10 a.m. by a 2005 Pontiac Grand Am being driven by Sasha Harris, 30, in a southbound lane of Boulder Highway near the intersection of Skyforest Drive.

The man was walking south on southbound Boulder Highway in the middle lane with his back to traffic. He was wearing dark clothing and not trying to cross the roadway. Fatal Accident investigators are looking into some information that the man may have been trying to commit suicide. Investigators are trying to locate some people in the area who may have information regarding the man talking earlier in the day about committing suicide.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene.

The preliminary investigation suggests that drugs, alcohol and speed were not factors in the accident for the driver. The southbound lanes of Boulder Highway were closed for about three hours while the investigation was conducted.

The Clark County Coroner’s Office will release the victim’s name after his family has been notified.

So far this year there have been seven fatalities in Henderson in four fatal accidents.

A witness, Johnny Herrera, of Spokane, WA, stopped to help when his 1978 Ford pickup was struck by an unknown silver vehicle which fled the scene. This secondary collision is not related to the initial accident involving the pedestrian.
