Henderson, Nev. – Dreams will come true when the Las Vegas Shakespeare Company presents multiple performances of Rodgers & Hammerstein’s adaption of the enchanted story, Cinderella, at the Henderson Pavilion, 200 S. Green Valley Parkway, Friday, April 13-Saturday, April 14 and Friday, April 20-Saturday, April 21 at 8 p.m., as well as Sunday, April 15 and Sunday, April 22 at 7 p.m. Tickets are only $10.
“Cinderella is a timeless fairytale for people of all ages,” said Mark Calhoun, Henderson City Manager. “The Las Vegas Shakespeare Company is a talented group of professionals and will, without a doubt, put on a spectacular production. We’re delighted to offer this cherished classic for our residents as an affordable, family-friendly entertainment option.”
This year marks the 55th anniversary of Rodgers & Hammerstein’s made-for-television musical, the first of its kind. Staying true to the original rags to riches fairytale, Cinderella premiered in 1957 to the biggest audience in the history at the time. The Emmy-nominated production starred up-and-comer Julie Andrews, currently an award-winning actress/singer and known all over the world for her famous roles in Mary Poppins and The Sound of Music.
Over the past few decades, Rodgers & Hammerstein’s Cinderella has been recreated many times for broadcast and stage. With each rendition, a new generation has the chance to experience the charming story of good versus evil. Now, come this spring, the Las Vegas Shakespeare Company (LVSC) will turn up the magic on this timeless classic.
“I love the music and poetry of the show,” said Louisa Lemos, Play Director. “It conjures up beautiful imagery. Also, the idea that magic is possible through the belief in the impossible is absolutely amazing. It’ll be a lovely night at the Pavilion.”
The popular theatre troupe will put their sparkling spin on the original production. Fans will be entertained as the romantic fairytale comes to life, on-stage at the Pavilion. All-ages will watch as Cinderella, with the help of her Fairy Godmother, a little wish, a glass slipper and a royal ball, has her dreams come true for a happily ever after.
