Henderson, Nev. – The city of Henderson is accepting applications for two loan programs that assist residents with landscape improvements and help replace their water-thirsty grass with water-efficient landscaping.
The Homeownership Enrichment Landscape Program is designed to help residents install drought-tolerant landscape or enhance a yard that needs some landscape attention due to blighted conditions or to remove turf. This is a deferred loan program for a maximum of $5,000. Residents do not need to pay back the loan until they sell their home or there is a change in ownership.
The Turf Removal Program offers a loan up to $5,000 at 3% interest, amortized over a seven year period, for residents to replace their water-thirsty grass with desert landscape. For additional assistance, residents can sign up for a rebate through the Southern Nevada Water District landscape program. The rebate will in turn help pay down the loan.
“These programs can help provide financial resources to the citizens of Henderson at a time when budgets are tight,” said Barbara Geach, Neighborhood Services manager. “Even small changes to your landscaping can increase your curb appeal and help protect our water resources at the same time."
Eligible applicants must meet minimum requirements. Additional information is available at www.cityofhenderson.com. Click on Departments and then select Neighborhood Services.
