Henderson, Nev. – This year, the City of Henderson will celebrate the 25th anniversary of its partnership with the nation’s largest touring kid’s acting company, the Missoula Children’s Theatre, with multiple performances of The Tortoise Versus the Hare, Saturday, March 17 at Robert Taylor Elementary School, 144 Westminster Way, and Saturday, March 24 at the Henderson Convention Center, 200 S. Water Street, in the Water Street District, with shows at 3 p.m. and 7 p.m., both days. Tickets start at $5 and can be purchased at the door. Cash and/or money orders will be accepted.

“The Missoula Children’s Theatre has been a long-standing tradition in Henderson for years,” said Mark Calhoun, Henderson City Manager. “A favorite amongst our residents, the event has made a positive impact on the lives of thousands by making performing arts opportunities accessible and affordable to the community for the past 25 years.”

The Tortoise Versus the Hare will put a unique twist on a familiar fable. Taking place in the fantasy setting of West Sandy Bottoms, the musical centers around the town’s annual race – a rivalry between the mammals and reptiles – as seen through the eyes of a TV news team. Audiences will be entertained as they find out if slow & steady or speed is the key to victory.

Local children will star in The Tortoise Versus the Hare. In order to fill roles, the Missoula Children’s Theatre will hold open auditions for kids, Kindergarten-12th grade, for both performances. Auditions will be held March 12 at Robert Taylor Elementary School and March 19 at the Henderson Convention Center, both days beginning at 4 p.m. Children wishing to audition must be registered by a parent or guardian on-site between 3 p.m. – 4 p.m. Registration is mandatory.

The Missoula Children’s Theatre has amazed audiences, from Montana to Japan, for nearly four decades by providing quality education, entertainment and enrichment for all ages through the performing arts. Additionally, the company continues to captivate fans with its fantastic ensemble of Broadway musicals, poignant comedies and original children’s productions of classic fairytales and stories.
