Henderson, Nev. – A 73-year-old man died early this morning after he was struck by a pickup trying to cross Boulder Highway outside of a crosswalk.
The man was crossing Boulder Highway near Warm Springs Road about 12:10 a.m. outside of a crosswalk and against the light when he was struck by a 2001 Chevrolet Silverado driven by Brandon Ficklin, 25. The driver was heading northbound on Boulder Highway through the intersection on a green light.
The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene.
A preliminary investigation indicates that speed and alcohol were not factors in the accident.
The Clark County Coroner’s Office will release the victim’s name after his family has been notified.
This was the fourth accident-related fatality in Henderson in 2012.
