Henderson, Nev. – The City of Henderson will present Marty Baier, Area Director of Sales for the Henderson Hampton Inn & Suites – St. Rose and Best Western Plus, with the 4th annual Destination Champion Award tonight, Tuesday, May 1, at the City Council meeting at 7 p.m. at Henderson City Hall, 240 S. Water Street, in the Water Street District.
The Destination Champion Award was developed in 2009 by the City of Henderson Department of Cultural Arts & Tourism to recognize excellence in the destination’s hospitality industry. Each year, the Commission on Cultural Arts & Tourism selects one hotel sales professional for their commitment to promoting and enhancing awareness of Henderson, Nevada as a premier destination for both leisure and business visitors.
“We are proud to honor Marty for his outstanding service,” said Andrea Primo, Director of the Department of Cultural Arts & Tourism. “His contributions to Destination Henderson are remarkable. His commitment and passion to share our premier city with visitors is evident through the meetings and convention business he brings to Henderson, Nevada.”
Baier has worked for other Henderson area hotels for nearly four years. Currently, he’s the Area Director of Sales for the Hampton Inn & Suites – St. Rose and Best Western Plus and is responsible for all aspects of sales and marketing for both hotels, which consist of nearly 250 rooms and suites, as well as over 4,200 square feet of multi-function meeting space.
With his strong customer relations, he has served several major corporate clients such as Cashman Equipment, Siemens and Biomet for years. These skills have also helped with his relationship with Span International, which now holds multiple week-long training classes in Henderson annually for the past several years, resulting in over 60,000 room nights a year in the area.
In addition to these clients, Baier also works with nationally-recognized sports organizations. Recently, he secured one of his properties as the host resort for BBSC’s Rage Triathlon, an organization that also puts on races in Southern Utah, amongst other sporting competitions year-round.
Active in the hospitality industry, Baier has received numerous awards over the years. In fact, he was awarded the Manager/Director of Sales in 2009. He also serves as a member of the Henderson Chamber of Commerce, involved in the Ambassadors Program and Society of Government Meeting Planners.
