Henderson, Nev. – Henderson City Manager Phil Speight announced the selection of Christine Kidd as the City of Henderson’s Development Services Center (DSC) Manager. Kidd will be charged with the management of the multi-departmental operation responsible for the coordinated review of all development occurring within one of the fastest growing communities in the nation.

Serving as acting manager throughout the past year, Kidd fills the vacancy created with the passing of Ron Patterson after a long illness. Kidd will earn $113,365 a year.

“Christine is a key member of our DSC management team,” said Henderson Mayor James B. Gibson. “Since its inception, the DSC has achieved a performance rate of 99% on time plans checking and inspection services and Christine has been part of the leadership that has made that ongoing success possible.”

The DSC is a multi-departmental operation that is comprised of 165 full-time employees and budget of $29.6 million. From July 2005 to June 2006, the DSC conducted nearly 20,000 reviews.

”Christine is a tremendous asset to the City and has done an outstanding job over the past several months serving as acting director,” said City Manager Phil Speight. “Christine has been an integral part of the DSC from the beginning, and she will provide a continuation of strong leadership that has led the DSC team to receiving national acclaim and recognition.”

The DSC received the 2005 America’s Crown Communities award and was named a finalist for the 2006 Cashman Good Government award.

“The DSC has worked diligently to maintain high levels of efficiency and the management team has guided them in their success,” stated Assistant City Manager Mary Kay Peck. “There is great confidence in Christine’s ability to continue to lead this award-winning team and to take them to even higher levels.”

A native of Southern Nevada, Kidd attended the University of Nevada, Las Vegas graduating with a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering in 1994. Prior to joining the city of Henderson, Kidd was an employee within the Clark County Public Works Engineering Design section. She is also a Registered Professional Civil Engineer in the state of Nevada.

A member of the American Public Works Association (APWA), Kidd has served on the APWA board for several years.
