PGA Professionals Launch the First Tee Program in Henderson

Henderson, Nev. – On Monday, Oct. 10, valley youth will be welcomed by PGA professionals, Mayor James B. Gibson and Henderson City Council to the official launch of The First Tee of Southern Nevada program at Henderson’s first municipal golf course, the Wildhorse Golf Club. The First Tee, created by the World Golf Foundation in 1997, is recognized as one of the premier youth character-education programs in the country. Through the game of golf, The First Tee impacts young lives by promoting character development and life-enhancing values, while introducing youth of all backgrounds to the game. The Wildhorse Golf Club, the City of Henderson’s first municipal golf course, is the first golf facility within the Henderson Community to host The First Tee of Southern Nevada.

WHY:
The First Tee of Southern Nevada, the leading youth golf organization that enriches lives and develops better citizens, ensures that participants learn the fundamentals of golf and its inherent values by providing accessible and affordable golf experiences including the life skills curriculum based “Golf Fore Kids” development program, the SNJGA Tour competitive tournament program, and the “Driving the Dream” scholarship program for higher education. Because The First Tee mission is broader than simply teaching youth how to play golf, our curriculum has a strong Life Skills component that includes community service and mentoring opportunities.
