Ombudsman Seminars
The
Office of the Ombudsman kicked off its 2010 Outreach last week with Basics
for Board Members, a concise summary of the expectations incumbent upon all
Nevada HOA directors.
For those
who were unable to enroll in last week’s session, you are invited to enroll
in
upcoming sessions on February 11th, March 20th, April 20th or May 21st
in Las Vegas.
While the class is
geared toward board members, non-board members are welcome to enroll as
well.
Anyone who is
interested in attending should register by contacting Nicholas Haley at
nhaley@red.state.nv.us or by calling 702-486-4480.

Helping Haiti
Although
there are legitimate organizations looking to help earthquake victims in
Haiti, there are just as many scammers out there looking to take advantage
of your generosity.
Not
every so-called charity is what it claims to be. Nevada’s Fight Fraud
Taskforce is warning consumers to be cautious when giving.
When making donations, the Attorney General’s Office offers some
suggestions:
· Give
directly to the charity of your choice
·
Be wary
of sound-alike names or phrases such as “Angel Fund" or “Emergency Give”
· It’s
okay to ask questions
· A
legitimate charity will never pressure you to make donations
