Thank
you for a successful 2010!
2010 was a productive year for the Neighborhood Services team! Here are just a few of the ways
we worked together with our residents and community managers to offer
premier services, programs and resources:
- Approved 7
Enhancement Grant applications for projects such as landscaping and
signage.
- Coordinated the 6th annual
City Hall at the Mall event, where hundreds of residents met
informally with City staff.
- Educated and provided networking opportunities for over 150
neighborhood leaders on a variety of issues facing our community at
three
Neighborhood Leadership Forum events.
We appreciate the dedication of our residents and partners, who support us
every day - we couldn't do it without you.
As we move into 2011, we look forward to maintaining current partnerships with
our neighborhoods and creating new ones, which will ensure the continued
strength of our community.

In an effort to educate
homeowners on how to protect themselves from unlicensed contractors and to
learn effective ways of dealing with licensed contractors, the
Nevada State Contractors Board
has developed a public awareness program called The Community Watch
Campaign.
This
30-minute talk, to be followed by a question-and-answer session, is
available to groups and highlights the benefits of hiring licensed
contractors for home repairs and remodeling needs.

Crime Prevention
Tip of the Month

Reporting Suspicious
Activity
"If you see something, say
something".
What is
STIX?
Designed to
keep neighborhoods safe from terrorist activities, the
Southern Nevada
Counter-Terrorism Center Trusted Information Exchange (STIX) is a
partnership between public safety agencies and the community. You and your
neighbors can report suspicious behaviors and activities that make you feel
uncomfortable or that look out of place.
Nevada’s
Seven Signs of Terrorism
The University
of Nevada Las Vegas Institute for Security Studies (UNLV ISS) developed the
Emmy® Award nominated video production titled “Nevada’s Seven Signs of
Terrorism” in cooperation with State and local public safety and homeland
security agencies. The video provides an informative walk through key
behaviors and activities that are the hallmark of terrorist planning and
preparations. Take a moment to
watch the video and better understand how you can sharpen your
observation skills and recognize the important role you play in helping us
all stay safe.
Remember, we can
and must work together to prevent terrorist attacks and criminal activity.
If you have any questions about this crime prevention
tip or would like to know how to implement it in your neighborhood, please
contact Officer David Kohlmeier at (702) 267-4495 or
