June 2011 | News and information from the City of Henderson
MAYOR ANDY HAFEN
I hope you enjoy this inaugural issue of the City of Henderson e-newsletter. I think this will be an excellent tool to get information to AND from the great residents of our community! Our vision is to be the premier community in America, and tools such as this e-newsletter will certainly help us to reach that vision. Even though there have been some tough economic challenges during my first two years, I truly enjoy serving as the Mayor of this wonderful city. Every day I see outstanding examples of what makes Henderson a great place to call home, and it is this sense of community that I am most looking forward to sharing with you in future e-newsletters.

ROAD CONSTRUCTION INFO ON THE WEB
Nothing is more frustrating to motorists than
unexpected delays caused by road construction
or lane restrictions. The City now offers an end to
this nuisance by providing motorists with an online
map showing where travel delays can be expected.
The Active Road Work and Barricade Work Zone
map shows long-term road construction, as well
as temporary barricades in place over several days
due to contractors working within the City roadway.
Simply click on the "identify" button on the map
legend, then click a symbol on the map to learn
more about a specific project. The map is updated
every evening so motorists may prepare for their
morning commute.

CITY OF HENDERSON'S STRATEGIC PLAN
Every successful organization has a plan that
defines where it is going and where it needs
to focus its resources. The City of Henderson's
Strategic Plan clearly defines a vision to be
America's Premier Community, and identifies five
goals that will help the city achieve that vision.
Those goals are for Safe Community, Strong
& Diverse Local Economy, Vibrant Community,
Sustainable Practices & Development, and
Organizational Excellence. The Mayor and each
Councilmember champions one of these goals.
Review the 2011-2013 Strategic Plan, and watch for
updates on the progress the city is making in each
of these areas.

COUNCILMAN STEVE KIRK, WARD IV
This e-newsletter marks my last communication with you as your elected representative on the Henderson City Council. It has truly been a pleasure to serve as the Ward IV Councilman for the past twelve years. My time has been filled with many rich and rewarding experiences working with the residents and businesses of this great city. Together we have created a community that is quite remarkable. My hope is that you will continue to provide your ideas and feedback to the Mayor and City Council so that we may all work collectively to make Henderson America's premier community.
