Fire and Life Safety Education is a vital ingredient to our community and Department. Following the activities that the City of Henderson Fire Department offers to our community and surrounding areas.
Henderson Safety & Health Academy
Provide education to all age groups using workshops and activities to improve knowledge and skills in the areas of fire, life safety & health awareness, reducing intentional and unintentional injury and death.

Safety & Health Expo Day
Provide education and community resources to all age groups, increasing their knowledge, skills and exposure in the area of fire, life safety and health awareness, reducing intentional and unintentional injury and death for all groups. Further, provide for boy & girl scouts to work on merit badges in a single setting.

Youth Firesetter Intervention Program
Provide intervention, education, deterrence & prevent reoccurrence to youth and their families experiencing problems with firesetting and other high risk activities. Extended services added per family based on needs or risk assessment. Court ordered Comprehensive Fire Risk Assessment, conducted by the YFS Risk Assessment Team.

Adults Ė 411 Personal Information Workshop
Provide community workshop on how to create a Medical Personal Information and Contact Book. Areas covered: Personal Information, Current Medical Information, Medical History, Lab Reports/Tests, and Legal Information. Book can be used as information on hand for emergency service response, doctors, care givers and the individual.

Senior Assist Program
Provide additional assistance for senior and disabled adults, based on referrals from Henderson Fire Department station/shift personnel. Referrals are forwarded to our city Senior Center. From there a social worker is assigned and will do a home visit. If the senior will not allow for the home visit, Public Education Specialist will set up an appointment and do the screening, with the assistance of the social worker.
Through the Senior Center, after the screening, client may be eligible for Meals on Wheels, medical and legal services, placement and additional opportunities.
The Purpose is to reduce the number of non-emergency calls to seniors and disable adults.

General Public Information
Provide information to Fire Department, City of Henderson and surrounding communities regarding safety messages, programs and events supported or sponsored by the Henderson Fire Department and other community organizations. Support Lead Fire PIO as needed on emergencies. Coordinate media on non-emergencies. Department representative for the City of Henderson Public Information Team (Pit Crew)
4th Of July Safety Messages, HFD Expo, Fire Prevention Month, Safe Kid Coalition Car Seat Checks And Various Programs, Fire Information Updates On National Fire Incidents, National Alerts; Trainings And Other Program Updates
Provide children and their families the skills and knowledge they need to create safer homes and communities. This is a school based curriculum that links teachers with community safety experts and parents. The curriculum is divided into five age- appropriate teaching modules: Pre-K/Kindergarten, Grades 1 & 2, Grades 3 & 4, Grades 5 & 6 and Grades 7 & 8. Safety Modules are: Motor vehicle safety, fire & burn prevention, choking, suffocations & strangulation prevention, falls prevention, firearms injury prevention, Bike and pedestrian safety & Water Safety. New Communities Risk Watch will be announced for 2008 through the NFPA. Other new programs attached to this will also be addressed.

Provide community and organizations opportunity to interact with fire department personnel and stations. Coordinate station personnel for each request. Notify requestor if approved.

To Hell & Back: FF/PPE, EMS/Burn Program, Community
To Hell and Back I is a training course for firefighters and EMTs to provide an education about the reality of a burn injury. To Hell and Back II is a training course designed to educate firefighters in situational awareness.
To Hell and Back Community Awareness, designed to teach high school and adult audiences about the reality of severe burn injuries. To Hell and Back Juvenile Firesetters, designed to teach Juvenile Firesetters about the reality of severe burn injuries. Taught at HFD and North Las Vegas FD Cadet Academyís.
