Extreme Fire Danger
Illegal fireworks are extremely dangerous and are illegal in Clark County. Fireworks are not allowed on federal lands, such as BLM, U. S. Forest Service, Lake Mead Recreational Area, and any other area designated as public land. Illegal fireworks are ones that fly through the air, explode, or whirl on the ground. The fireworks user has no control over where they land which can cause a fire. Illegal fireworks are usually sold outside Clark County and on the Indian Reservation. Those purchased on the Indian Reservation are expected to be used on the Reservation at a special designated area and not off the property. Using fireworks purchased from the Indian Reservation anywhere in Clark County is illegal.
Safe‑N‑Sane fireworks are not toys and should not be played with by children. “Safe‑N‑Sane” fireworks can cause major injury to adults and children and are capable of starting large fires. A number of significant fires in the valley start because of the use of Safe‑N‑Sane fireworks. The user must exercise extreme caution when using Safe‑N‑Sane fireworks.
Please use extreme precaution while using fireworks this Fourth of July.
Size of the Fireworks Problem
On Independence Day in a typical year, more U.S. fires are reported than on any other day, and fireworks account for half of those fires, more than any other cause of fires.
• In 2006, fireworks caused an estimated 32,600 reported fires, including 1,700 total structure fires, 600 vehicle fires, and 30,300 outside and other fires.
• These fires resulted in an estimated 6 civilian deaths, 70 civilian injuries and $34 million in direct property damage.
Billions of dollars nation wide are spent to put out fire each year.
Please, keep our community safe.
