Regional Plan for Sustainable Development
On November 27th, the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) announced the award of over $97 million in grants to support more livable and sustainable communities across the country. In the news release, HUD announced the Southern Nevada region would receive nearly $3.5 million in funding “to support regional planning efforts … in a manner that empowers regions to consider how all of these factors work together to create more jobs and economic opportunities.”
The grant is part of the federal government’s new emphasis on integrated planning, where housing, land-use, economic and workforce development, transportation, and infrastructure are linked to create more sustainable and economically vibrant communities.
