Robert A. Murnane, P.E.
Robert "Bob" Murnane was named the Senior Director of the Public Works, Parks and Recreation Department in January 2014. The two departments were combined for greater efficiency in building and maintaining the city's infrastructure. He manages several city functions including engineering, facilities management, park planning and maintenance, quality control, recreation programming, support services, survey/right-of-way and traffic services.
Before his appointment, Bob served as Public Works Director from May 2001 to January 2014. He started with the city in 1996 working on major transportation projects and engineering design.
Bob serves on the Executive Advisory Committee of the Regional Transportation Commission of Southern Nevada as well as the Technical Advisory Committee of the Regional Flood Control District.
Under his leadership, the Public Works Department has received awards from the Building Managers and Owners Association, the National Society of Professional Engineers and the American Public Works Association for several facilities and programs including the City Wide Energy Performance Contract, Heritage Park Senior Facility and Aquatics Complex, Justice Facility, North Police Station and the Southwest Water Reclamation Facility.
A 1987 civil engineering graduate of the Oregon Institute of Technology, Bob worked in the private sector for various Southern Nevada engineering firms until 1990. He worked for the city of North Las Vegas from 1990 to 2001 before joining the city of Henderson.
