Professional Biography:
Bud Cranor was named Director of the Communications and Council
Support Office in June 2011. He oversees the administrative and constituent
affairs for the city of Henderson Mayor and Council. He also serves as the
city's primary spokesman and directs the city's public information efforts,
which includes public affairs, issue and crisis communication management,
public information/education programs, media liaison activities, employee
communications, and the city's graphics, print and mail services.
Bud came to the city in 2003 and has served as the Public Information Manager, Special Assistant to the Mayor and Council and Senior Public Information Specialist. He previously served as the Director of Nevada Governor Kenny C. Guinn's Southern Nevada Office and was a member of the Governor's senior staff from 1998 to 2003.
Before entering public service, Bud held positions in the private and non-profit sectors after graduating with a bachelor's degree in communications from Brigham Young University (BYU) in 1995.
Bud currently serves on the Emergency Response Plan Review Committee for the Clark County School District (CCSD)
and the Voices in Voting Board of Directors. He also
serves on the APPLE Partnership Executive Committee.
In 2008, Bud received the Golden Apple Award from CCSD for his support of literacy and education. The Henderson Community Foundation named him their 2005 Outstanding Citizen and in 2004 he received the Outstanding Young Alumni Award from BYU-Idaho. He has also been recognized for his communications skills by the Public Relations Society of America and International Association of Business Communicators.
