Professional Biography:
Mary Kay Peck was appointed City Manager for the city of Henderson, Nevada in October 2007. Prior to her appointment, she served as Assistant City Manager. Mary Kay becomes the first woman to serve as City Manager of the second largest city in the state of Nevada.

From 1996 to 2005, she served as the city's Director of Community Development. She joined the city in February 1995 as Zoning Administrator. During her tenure with the city, the population of Henderson has increased from 116,482 in 1995 to over 265,000 today.

Mary Kay previously served as Planning Director for Gallatin County (Bozeman), Montana for 12 years. Prior to that, she was employed as Executive Director of the Dundee (Ill.) Area Intermunicipal Planning Committee in the Chicago suburbs. Mary Kay has a master’s degree in Urban Planning from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and a bachelor’s degree in Urban Affairs from the University of Evansville, Indiana.

From 2002 to 2004, Mary Kay served as president of the 38,000 member American Planning Association (APA). She previously served on the APA Board of Directors and as Chair of the Chapter President's Council of APA. In addition, she served as president of the Western Central Chapter of the American Planning Association and Montana Association of Planners.

Mary Kay has earned a membership to the American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) from the APA. The AICP recognizes leadership in professional planners, ethics, professional development, planning education and the standards of planning practice. She is also an associate member of the Urban Land Institute (ULI) and serves on the Executive Committee for the Las Vegas ULI chapter. She previously served on the Executive Advisory Committee of the Regional Transportation Commission.

Throughout her professional career, Mary Kay has managed award-winning development code and planning projects, and has been a frequently-requested speaker, covering topics including leadership, code revision, regional planning, and downtown redevelopment.
