Sabrina Mercadante was appointed as City Clerk in September 2010 by the Mayor and Council. She had served as Manager of Council and Commission Services from 2008 to 2010 and as the city’s Archives and Records Administrator from 2000 to 2008.
As City Clerk, Sabrina is responsible for the administration of the city’s voter/election and U.S. passport services, local legislative processes and historical records preservation. In her previous positions, she provided leadership and direction to city staff responsible for facilitation of the legislative process and was responsible for oversight of the city’s Public Records Program, including the City Records Center, City Archives, Digital Imaging Program and the Development Services Records Center. Throughout her tenure with the city, Sabrina has participated in the municipal election process.
Sabrina has been an active member of the International Institute of Municipal Clerks since 2003 and has achieved the Master Municipal Clerk designation, the highest certification offered by the organization. She has been appointed by governors Guinn, Gibbons and Sandoval to the Nevada State Historical Records Advisory Board to serve consecutively from 2003-2015. In addition, she has been a member of the Association of Records Managers since 1986.
She is currently serving on the Clark County Credit Union board of directors. Additionally, Sabrina was elected in December 2012 as vice president of the S.A.F.E. House Board of Directors, a nonprofit shelter for victims of domestic violence, after serving several years as a board member at large. She is also a founding board member of the Basic High School Alumni Foundation.
From 1984 to 2000, Sabrina served as Records Manager with EG&G/Bechtel Nevada, the management and operating contractor for what is now known as the Nevada National Security Site, where she was responsible for the records retention and disposition program, the quality records program and the underground test readiness archiving project.
Sabrina obtained the Certified Public Official designation from the University of Nevada, Reno in 2013. She earned her bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Phoenix, and has completed five Nevada Municipal Clerks’ Institutes.
