Professional Biography:
Michael Bouse joined the city of Henderson as Building and Fire Safety Director in November 1998. As Director, he is responsible for all areas of building and fire code administration. The Building and Fire Safety Department reviews construction drawings, issues construction and fire permits, and inspects existing buildings and buildings under construction to verify compliance with minimum structural and fire life-safety requirements. In addition, he directs the code enforcement section that ensures properties are occupied and maintained in conformance with community standards.

Michael previously served for 9 years as the Building and Safety Director for the city of National City, California. During the preceding 16 years, he held progressively more responsible positions within the building code administration and code enforcement professions during tenures of employment with 7 municipalities.

Bouse holds a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Redlands. He is certified as a Building Official by the International Code Council and holds certification in 13 inspection disciplines.

Michael is the current chairman of Southern Nevada Building Officials. In 2004, he was awarded the "Cornerstone" Skills, Integrity and Responsibility Award from the Las Vegas Chapter of the Associated General Contractors. He received the 1999 Individual-Public Sector Economic Development Award from the Henderson Development Association, and the 2000 Government Person of the Year Award from the Southern Nevada Chapter of the International Conference of Building Officials.
