Professional Biography:
Dr. Gary D. Weddle was named the city of Henderson Animal Control Administrator in January 2004. Dr. Weddle manages the Animal Control Bureau, a division of the Henderson Police Department tasked with balancing the health, safety and welfare needs of people and animals within Henderson. He is also responsible for the William Robert (Bob) Hampton Animal Care and Control Facility which provides pet adoptions and citizen education on the care of animals.

A native of Kansas City, Missouri, Dr. Weddle received his bachelor's degree in 1972 and his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine in 1978, both from the University of Missouri. He relocated to Henderson in 1978, and was the owner/operator of the Black Mountain Animal Hospital from 1979 to 1993. In 1993, Dr. Weddle limited his practice to exotic species before joining the city.

In 1985, the Nevada Wildlife Society named Dr. Weddle "Conservationist of the Year." He is a current member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, the American Association of Zoo Veterinarians, and the American Association of Shelter Veterinarians.

Dr. Weddle previously served as president of the Nevada Veterinary Medical Association and as a board member of the Nevada Board of Veterinary Medical Examiners and the Nevada Fish and Wildlife Commission. He was an adjunct professor for the Community College of Southern Nevada for ten years.
