- When are the meetings of the City Council held?
Meetings of the City Council are held the first and third Tuesdays of every month, unless otherwise noticed. Special meetings are called by the City Council
as needed. The 2008 City Council Meeting Schedule can be viewed on-line.
- How do I sign up to receive City Council agendas?
To receive City Council agendas by e-mail, you may e-mail your request to the City Clerk's office at
cityclerk.cityclerk@cityofhenderson.com, listing name, address, and telephone number.
To receive a mailed agenda, a request can be made by calling the
City Clerk's office at (702) 267-1400 or Relay Nevada 7-1-1; by visiting the Clerk's office and filling out an Agenda Request Form; or by
completing and submitting the
On-line Agenda Request Form.
Agendas for the City Council meetings are then automatically mailed to the requestor the Wednesday prior to the City Council meetings for a period of six months unless renewed.
- How can I find out what action was taken at a City Council meeting?
To find out what action was taken at a City Council meeting, you may request an annotated Agenda by telephoning the City Clerk's office at
(702) 267-1400; request to be placed on the Annotated Agenda e-mail list at no charge; request to be mailed hard copies of the Annotated Agenda for $200.00 every six months; or access the
Agenda, Back-up, and Minutes on-line.
The Annotated Agenda is a summary of all items discussed and acted upon. Minutes of the City Council meetings are also available in hard copy or on-line and will illustrate what action was taken during the meeting.
- How do I get minutes from a public meeting?
Minutes from a meeting may be obtained by contacting the Henderson City Clerk's office at
(702) 267-1400 or

- How do I volunteer to serve on a board or commission?
To volunteer to serve on a board or commission, stop by or contact the City Clerk's office at
(702) 267-1400 for further information. Applications are considered as vacancies occur. Further information can be obtained from the
Boards and Commissions web page.
- When are City elections held?
City elections are held every odd numbered year.
Primary elections are held the first Tuesday after the first Monday in April, and general elections are held the first Tuesday after the first Monday in June. Available seats are staggered, with either three City Council seats or, one City Council seat and the position of Mayor, voted upon in any election year. The Mayor and Council serve four-year terms and the Municipal Judges serve six-year terms. More information is available via the City Clerk's

- Where do I register to vote?
You can
register to vote in person at any City Clerk's Office, The Clark County Election Department, any Department of Motor Vehicles location, or before a Field Registrar. Mail-in Voter Registration Applications are also available at The Senior Center, located at 27 Texas, Henderson City Recreation Centers, any United States Post Office and all libraries.
- How do I obtain a mailed or absentee ballot?
Absentee ballots may be obtained by sending a request in writing to either the Clark County Election Dept., 500 South Grand Central Parkway, Las Vegas, Nevada 89155; or to the Henderson City Clerk's Office, 240 Water Street, Henderson, NV. 89015. Request letters must include name, address, what election the absentee ballot is requested for; and be signed by the requestor. Deadline for requests is five business days prior to election day.
- When is early voting held?
The period for early voting begins the third Saturday preceding an election, and extends through the Friday prior to election day.
- Where can I vote?
For the convenience of its citizens, the City of Henderson gives voters many opportunities to cast their vote. Early Voting sites are located in all malls for a two week period prior to election day, as well as many other conveniently located sites. Early voting sites for elections may vary, so please refer to your sample ballot for updated voting schedules.
All registered voters are assigned a polling place for election day voting. For your specific polling location, refer to your voter registration card, sample ballot, or simply contact the City Clerk's office for assistance prior to election day at
(702) 267-1400.
- What are candidate qualifications for Mayor, Councilmember or Judge?
The qualifications for Mayor, Councilmember or Judge are as follows:
A candidate for Mayor must be -
1) a resident of the city for 12 months immediately preceding the last day for filing a declaration of candidacy for office; and 2) a qualified elector within the city.
A candidate for Councilmember must be -
1) a resident of the city for 12 months immediately preceding the last day for filing a declaration of candidacy for office; 2) a qualified elector and, 3) a resident of the ward which he/she represents for at least 30 days immediately preceding the last day for filing a declaration of candidacy for the office.
A candidate for Judge must be -
1) a resident of the city for 12 months immediately preceding the last day for filing a declaration of candidacy for office; 2) a qualified elector and 3) a lawyer.
- Where do I pick up a vacation of right-of-way application?
Applications for vacation of right-of-way may be obtained in the Henderson
Property Management Office. There is a fee of $150.00 for the vacation.
- Where do I obtain a lobbyist registration form?
Lobbyist registration information and forms can be obtained in the Henderson City Clerk's office or on-line. After the form is completed, you will be issued a lobbyist badge which must be worn when meeting with a member of the Henderson City Council or Henderson Planning Commission. Badges must be returned to the City Clerk's office after the meeting has concluded.
- Where can I obtain Homestead forms?
Declaration of Homestead forms can be obtained from the Henderson City Clerk's office, the County Recorder's
office, or the County Assessor's office free of charge. These
forms may also be obtained at almost any stationary store or may be
downloaded from the
Clark County Assessor's website. The form must be completely
filled out, notarized and taken or mailed to the County Recorders office
to be recorded. Please contact the County Recorder's office for
details.
- Where can I get a certified copy of a document?
Any department can certify a copy of a record that is filed with
that office. There is a fee for certification.
