Respite Funds Respite is accepted for classes, fitness, and memberships. It cannot be used for deposits or for any supplemental supply costs the instructor may request outside of the class price. If you use respite for payment, you must register through the Therapeutic Recreation & Inclusion Services office. Include your respite agreement as proof of respite funding with your registration. This only needs to occur when you receive a new respite agreement. Registration with respite will not be accepted at any other location. Programs Rec & Roll Rec & Roll is a 9-month after-school recreation program for young adults with disabilities. It is offered at various recreation centers and provides opportunities for young adults to explore their recreational interests in a structured environment as well as develop the skills needed for independence. Daily programs focus on community-based recreation activities such as bowling, swimming, and going to the movies. The program also provides activities that enhance skills related to independent living, including budgeting, meal planning, personal hygiene, social interaction, and the importance of making time for leisure experiences. Grades 9-12 (or ages 14-21) On the Go On the Go is a 9-month community-based recreation program for adults of varying abilities wishing to meet new friends through recreation and independent living activities. It is offered at various recreation centers and provides participants the opportunity to experience and develop a variety of lifetime leisure skills in a community-based setting. It is structured to encourage the familiarization of neighborhood leisure resources, self-image, community belonging, and responsibility through recreation participation. 22 yrs. & up (or have graduated from high school) Snacks Snacks are permitted and encouraged during designated program snack times. We do not have the ability to refrigerate or microwave snacks. Vending machines are available at our recreation centers. Staff will work with parents/guardians who have participants with dietary restrictions. Snacks may be purchased at movie theater concession stands, but not at the bowling alley or roller skating concession stands. Instead, snacks can be brought to those venues. How to Register Initial Intake Individuals with disabilities who are interested in registering for Rec & Roll or On the Go should contact Therapeutic Recreation & Inclusion Services’ main office to schedule an intake.
