The program encourages self-confidence and develops communication and leadership skills. Responsible teens ages 14 and 15 willing to make the commitment for an entire program session are placed based on skills, interests, availability, and location preference. All assignments provide training, the opportunity to work with children and the chance for teens to develop leadership abilities. Applications (and program guidelines) are available now at all recreation centers, the Sports office and online at cityofhenderson.com. Complete all areas of the application as incomplete submissions will not be processed. You will need two letters of recommendation included with your application; ask respected adults who are not related to you (teacher, coach, religious leader, etc.). Selected applicants will be contacted to schedule an interview. An orientation for parents is held prior to the start of the program, which covers expectations for teens’ behavior and responsibilities.
