FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE Child Care Subsidy Program The City of Henderson works in partnership with the Las Vegas Urban League to assist parents who have children attending Kids Zone, Safekey and Teen Scene. The Urban League’s Child Care Subsidy program provides subsidies for child care services to low-income families with parents who are working, attending school or training. The program operates in conjunction with the Division of Welfare and Supportive Services to improve the quality of child care and early childhood development in Southern Nevada. To contact the Urban League for information, call 702-473-9400. Respite The City of Henderson also works in partnership with respite provided through the Desert Regional Center. You may contact the provider of this program for assistance at 702-486-6200. Important Information for Recipients of the Child Care Subsidy Program & Respite • It is the parent/guardian’s responsibility to provide a copy of the Child Care Subsidy certificate or respite form to the city. Providing a copy of the certificate does not automatically enroll the child. Children must be registered prior to attending any of the city’s child care programs, even if the subsidy provides 100 percent coverage. Registration must be completed at Downtown Recreation Center. • Child care subsidies are only applied to registered service days on or after the day that a copy of the child care certificate has been received by the city, even if the “care authorized from” date on the certificate is prior to the date received by the city. • Parents/guardians are financially responsible for annual registration costs and any days or percentages not covered by their current certificates. The city accepts cash, checks, money orders, Visa, MasterCard and Discover. Make checks/money orders payable to City of Henderson. • As per our refund policy, credits/refunds/transfers will not be granted for missed days. • In the event the Urban League or Desert Regional Center denies the City of Henderson’s claim for reimbursement, you are financially responsible fo the difference. • Services may be denied if a balance is placed on your account or registration has not been completed. City of Henderson Financial Assistance Program The City of Henderson offers support to Henderson residents needing financial assistance to participate in parks and recreation programs. The City of Henderson Financial Assistance Program provides qualifying Henderson residents with the opportunity to participate in more programs by awarding financial assistance through a percentage-based subsidy. The Financial Assistance Program is awarded only to Henderson residents meeting the current guidelines of the State of Nevada Child Care Subsidy program income chart. Low-income Henderson residents may seek financial assistance for parks and recreation classes and programs by submitting an application for the Financial Assistance Program. Financial assistance for City of Henderson child care programs (Safekey, Teen Scene, Kids Zone, etc.) will only be considered for recipients of Urban League Child Care assistance or other Child Care Development Fund assistance. The child care certificate or wait list letter from the Las Vegas Urban League or other Child Care Development Fund administrator must be provided with the application in order to be considered for City of Henderson financial assistance for child care. Application packets may be picked up at any of our recreation centers, aquatic complexes, senior centers and the Sports office. The application packet includes a listing of all of the necessary documents you will need to submit with your completed application. Once you have finalized your application, submit the completed packet to any recreation center, aquatic complex, senior center, or the Sports office. Or you may scan and email the document to COHFinAid@cityofhenderson. com. Incomplete applications will not be considered. It may take up to 10 business days to receive a status on your application. If approved, a staff member will contact you with the percentage of subsidy of financial assistance you will receive, and the programs that the subsidy may be used for. The Financial Assistance Program policy requires that eligible participants pay a portion of the program cost, which is based on the percentage of subsidy awarded. For example, if awarded a Financial Assistance Program subsidy at 90 percent, the participant/household is required to pay the remaining 10 percent of the program price at the time of enrollment. Patrons using all types of financial assistance (Urban League, respite and the city’s Financial Assistance Program) for parks and recreation programs are required to go to Downtown Recreation Center, 105 W. Basic Rd., to register. If you have questions, call us at 702-267-4AID (4243), email us at COHFinAid@cityofhenderson.com or visit the nearest City of Henderson recreation facility.
