Henderson Police Investigate Fatal Traffic Collision Involving Bus and Motorcyclist

Henderson, Nev. – On January 14, at approximately 12:10 p.m., Henderson Police responded to a motor vehicle accident involving a RTC bus and a motorcyclist at the intersection of Basic Road and Haynes Drive. Preliminary investigation indicates that a 32-year-old motorcyclist on a 2016 Yamaha R1 was traveling south on Haynes Drive approaching Basic Road when he failed to stop at the posted stop sign colliding with a 2015 New Flyer RTC bus that was traveling east on Basic Road.

One passenger on the RTC bus sustained minor injuries, was treated at the scene and released and the motorcyclist was transported to Henderson Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

The intersection of Basic Road and Haynes Drive was closed for about three hours while fatal crash investigators conducted their investigation.

The name of the deceased will be released by the Clark County Coroner’s Office after next of kin notifications.

The crash is being investigated as the first traffic related fatality this year in The City of Henderson.
