Henderson Police Conclude Joining Forces Event Targeting Impaired Drivers

Henderson, Nev. – The Henderson Police Department concluded its 3rd campaign under the current Joining Forces Program.

During the enforcement initiative that ran from December 18th, through January 1st, 2019, Henderson Police stopped 418 motorists resulting in 474 citations.

Of the 418 traffic stops, Traffic Officers completed 3 arrests for Driving Under the Influence (DUI) and assisted patrol with 2 DUI investigations.  3 fugitives were arrested, with an additional 5 arrested for other assorted offenses.   127 drivers were cited for speeding, 2 cited for reckless driving, 18 cited for distracted driving (such as cell phone use), 85 cited for red light violations, 35 cited for registration violations, 25 cited for no insurance, as well as several other citations issued for other traffic related offenses.

The Henderson Police Department received $183,860 in federal funding through the Nevada Department of Public Safety - Office of Traffic Safety for the 2019 Joining Forces Program (performance period ending Sept 30, 2019). The grant provides funding for enforcement and education to reduce deaths and injuries on Nevada roadways. Enforcement events during the year focus on pedestrian safety, seat belt use, speeding, distracted driving and impaired driving.
