Henderson Winter Holiday Events Guide

Henderson, Nev. - Holiday traditions do not just happen at home. From a 5K run and holiday movies to visits with Santa and giving to others, Henderson offers opportunities for everyone to come together this holiday season. And most of these activities are low or no cost and open to all ages. Participation in City of Henderson events with a 10-digit registration code require a free household account. Here are some of Henderson’s holiday activities.

Candy Cane Festival
December 14 • 6pm-8pm • $5 • 436556-00
Heritage Park Aquatic Complex, 310 S. Racetrack Rd. 
Celebrate the magic of winter at the pool. Festivities include games, bounce house, treats, and underwater candy cane hunt. Kids can also get ready for the holiday season by writing and mailing a letter to Santa. Bring a new or gently used coat and admission is free. Parents must be in the water with children under the age of 8. All ages.

Holiday Classics
December 14 • 6pm-8:15pm • $5 • 154239-53
Downtown Recreation Center, 105 W. Basic Rd.
Ring in the holidays with these traditional holiday movie classics: Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, Frosty the Snowman, A Charlie Brown Christmas, and How the Grinch Stole Christmas. Popcorn and snacks will be provided. All ages.

Reindeer Dash 5K Run & 1-Mile Walk
December 15 • 9am-11am • Cost Varies
Pecos Legacy Park, 150 Pecos. Rd. 
Make a dash to Pittman Wash Trail this winter for a jolly good time. Participants are encouraged to don their most cheerful costumes or ugly holiday sweaters. Souvenir T-shirts are guaranteed for the first 300 participants. All fitness levels are welcome. Day of registration is cash only. Register at any Henderson recreation center, at or at Ages 5+.

Whitney Wonderland
December 15 • 10am-Noon • $8 • 154192-37
Whitney Ranch Recreation Center, 1575 Galleria Dr.
Join Santa and his helpers for a holiday wonderland including continental breakfast with all of the trimmings. Participate in games and crafts with Santa’s elves at their workstations, listen as Santa’s elves read a story, and bring your camera to take a picture with Santa. Register by December 12. Ages 3+.

Bird Mobile Tour With Santa
December 15 • 10am-11:30am • $7 • 664050-00
Henderson Bird Viewing Preserve, 350 E. Galleria Dr.
Hop on the Bird Mobile for a fun ride around the BVP with Santa as your tour guide. After the tour, make your own bird ornament while enjoying a holiday treat. Ages 6-12.

Give & Receive
December 18 • 9am 
Downtown Recreation Center, 105 W. Basic Rd.
In the spirit of the season, you can give back to the community by donating clothes, toys, home living items, and more. Drop off your donations now through December 17. The event ends once all items are gone on December 18. For more information, please call the center at 702-267-4040. All ages.

New Year’s Eve Lock-In
December 31-January 1 • 7pm-8am • $30 • 436315-00
Henderson Multigenerational Indoor Pool & Henderson Multigenerational Center, 250 S. Green Valley Pkwy.
This overnight event allows children to enjoy various activities such as dancing, arts and crafts, scavenger hunts, team building, open play, and open swim and concludes with a New Year’s-themed movie. In addition to the abundance of activities, kids will enjoy a dinner and celebrate the New Year with an apple cider toast while watching the fireworks from an unobstructed view on city property. It is suggested that participants bring a sleeping bag, pillow, swimsuit, and towel. Register by December 12. Ages 6-12.
